Tabor House Blessing

3rd December 2017

Tabor House guest accommodationOn 3 December, Archbishop Bernard Longley will lead a blessing of Birmingham’s new homeless shelter, Tabor House at St Annes Church, Digbeth.

The blessing by His Grace, which is by invitation only, reaffirms the Archdiocese’s commitment to helping homeless men and women. It is one of the founding partners behind Tabor House, along with local charities, organisations and individuals.

There will be refreshments available for guests, and will feature live music.

Tabor House held an official launch on World Homeless Day, 10 October, almost two weeks after welcoming its first guests. Read more about the launch in theĀ latest news section.

Volunteering opportunities

Currently, there are six beds at Tabor House. This will extend to fifteen after a learning period that will enable volunteers and staff to ensure everything is running smoothly and the support is the best it can be.

Over 100 volunteers give their time to support the people staying there, providing hospitality, respect, friendship and mentoring. There is an ongoing call for extra volunteers, especially those who can cover night shifts. To find out more, contact Mairead Shaw, Coordinator, on 07387 418318.
