Give the gift of time this Christmas, volunteer at Tabor House

Tabor House is seeking volunteers over ChristmasTabor House, Birmingham’s permanent night shelter, is asking for people to give their time at Christmas by volunteering over the festive period.

Tabor House works wonders all year round thanks to the crucial support of its volunteers. Volunters are especially important during the winter months and on holidays, when the anguish of being homeless and, for many of our guests, far from the warmth of friends and family is particularly profound.

Please get in touch if you can volunteer on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. Contact Sharon McCall on 07387 418319 or email [email protected]. We would love to hear from you.

While Christmas is an important time, Tabor House has an ongoing need for volunteers. It particularly needs hospitality volunteers who can cover evenings, overnight, or mornings. Hospitality volunteers assist with cooking, cleaning, preparing beds and participating in activities in the shelter. They play a vital role in ensuring vulnerable guests feel welcome and safe. If you would like to find out more about this role and others available, contact Sharon or visit: www.ishelter.org.uk.

Tabor House supports people experiencing homelessness to move away from the streets. It focuses on each guest’s needs and ambitions to provide the support they need to turn their life around. Amongst the support available, it provides English classes, help with welfare rights and help to find accommodation.

Tabor House welcomes men and women, people who can claim benefits and those who have been sanctioned. It also welcomes people without recourse to public funds. Guests with dogs are also welcome. However, it cannot accept people dependent on drugs or alcohol.
