Heart of Tamworth unveils new centre

After conceiving the vision over four years ago of an extended and redesigned Sacred Heart Community centre and Church on the 27th of May 2021 the Lord Mayor of Tamworth, on his first official engagement, formally opened the new café and centre.

The Heart of Tamworth logo is so good you can even taste it.

The strength of this project is the volunteer group, here seen involved in refreshments and preparation of lunch.

Sheri People, the Chair of the Board, described to guests the mission of the project and how the building will be used. Wendy Quinn, another member of the Board, and two new staff members Terry and Kelly, spoke about some of the services available including the bereavement support group, the dementia café, the food distribution centre and shop, and the provision of support to those who have been homeless on the streets of Tamworth.

With the formidable leadership of Father Michael White, each member of the Board, the 200 strong volunteer team, the new staff and of course the many partners, including Community Together CIC and Starfish, whose work and contribution is critical to everything HOT will be bringing some warmth to Tamworth even on the coldest night of the year.
